Overview

Branding for m.delosrios, or MDLR, the freelance business of Colombian-born VFX specialist, Miguel de los Rios Vila. A graduate of Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), one of the top art colleges in the U.S., Miguel has spent the past 14 years working in VFX, and has worked in 5 countries. He has worked with boutique studios and large shops alike, and has been involved with multi-million dollar projects such as Game of Thrones and Oblivion.

Miguel is positioning himself as a VFX supervisor, using his years of unique experience, technical expertise, and creativity to set him apart from his peers.

To help him, an expansive and flexible visual identity system was created that includes a custom acronym, a custom monospaced logotype, and a series of three meaningful symbols, all of which can be combined in seemingly endless permutations. The modernist visual aesthetic employs an experimental approach to typography — an allusion to the perpetually evolving technological landscape of the VFX industry.
